John Koller, director of hardware marketing for Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), hinted at the M16 conference this week that PlayStation 3 Facebook integration might be on the cards at some point in the near future.
Discussing aspects of social media at the “Casual to the Core: Redefining the Gaming Dynamic” panel, Koller was asked if it would be possible for gamers to use their PS3 consoles and have it “spit out something to Facebook.”
In response, the executive said that such functionality is “critical not just for marketing but for the types of games we’re trying to develop. That day is coming quicker than some may think.”
It’s worth pointing out that Koller didn’t outright confirm that Facebook integration is in the works, and could very well be referring to social media functionality in general. Nonetheless, we’re some many of you would welcome the prospect.
