Sony Is Looking To Launch Two Or More ‘Major’ Games Every Year Spanning Multiple Genres

Speaking during its Business Segment Meeting presentation overnight, Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed plans to launch at least two “major” games every year spanning a multitude of genres.

The format holder said PlayStation owners can expect to see “two or more major releases per year” covering “every major genre,” with a diagram in the presentation mentioning the likes of Shooter, Racing, RPG, Platformer, Action, and Sports. In addition, Sony plans to launch a “mix of single-player and live services” titles alongside a “balance of big franchises and new IP.”

Right now we know of a few major games coming out from Sony including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine, plus the likes of Final Fantasy XVI in terms of third-party titles. Beyond that however, it isn’t know what else is on the horizon, but that should all change with today’s PlayStation Showcase.

One of the biggest rumours for the PlayStation Showcase is the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake, which is reportedly coming out in 2024 and will receive a two-minute-plus trailer at the event.
