Sony’s latest financial results have revealed that the hardware manufacturer posted its best year ever for the Game & Network Services division, with overall revenue hitting $24.4 billion for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2021.
This is perhaps not too surprising considering the PS5 launched in November 2020, although software and services sales also performed solidly, giving the division an incredibly profitable year.

Sony also revealed during its financial results that the PS5 has moved 7.8 million worldwide as of March 31, 2021, which is up from 4.5 million at the end of last year. Furthermore, combined software sales for PS5 and PS4 hit 61.4 million during the period.

PlayStation Plus has also been performing strongly over the past year, with membership reaching 47.6 million worldwide.
