Nightdive Studios has staple-gunned a July 10, 2025 release date to the PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One versions of System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. The PC version was previously released on June 26.
System Shock 2: 25h Anniversary Remaster features a wealth of improvements over the classic title, and is rebuilt for modern platforms using the KEX Engine, offering enhanced visuals, gameplay, and running the game at a silky-smooth 4K resolution up to 120 FPS. It also benefits from a number of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes from the original PC version.

System Shock 2 was originally released in 1999, and is seen as one of the pioneering titles in regards to storytelling and atmosphere, and picked up numerous Game of the Year recognitions. The game was designed by future BioShock mastermind Ken Levine, and developed in collaboration with Irrational Games and Looking Glass Studios. System Shock 2 arrived on the PC in August 1999, and this remaster is the first time it will be available on modern consoles.
Set 42 years after its predecessor, System Shock 2 sees SHODAN and her army of mutants infesting the starship Von Braun. Players take on the role of a soldier who awakens from cryo-sleep gifted with cybernetic implants. Exploring the derelict ship, players must upgrade their skills while battling against SHODAN’s monstrous creations.
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster ships for PlayStation and Xbox consoles on July 10.
