With all the video game adaptations in the works at PlayStation Productions, it isn’t the only big publisher turning its popular gaming IP into new films and tv shows.
Nintendo of course made a huge splash earlier this year with the Super Mario Bros Movie, and 2K will enter the fray with Gearbox and a new Borderlands movie.
Which, we now know will be releasing on August 9, 2024, with Kevin Hart, Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ariana Greenblatt all a part of the cast.
Beyond the cast, there isn’t a whole lot we know about the coming film, though we do know that HBO’s The Last Of Us writer and showrunner Craig Mazin took his name off the film recently.
We know that the film was currently in the middle of re-shoots, and while it’s already been quite delayed, the current strike across the WGA and SAG-AFTRA likely means it’ll be delayed even further.
As far as video game film adaptations we can look forward to, the coming Gran Turismo film will premiere on August 11, 2023.
