It’s been a wild few years for video game movie adaptations, with some great success such as Sonic: The Hedgehog and Detective Pikachu but thanks to Covid-19 a lot of these movie adaptations have also been delayed. Uncharted starring Tom Holland, Monster Hunter starring Milla Jovovich, a brand new Mortal Kombat movie was set to release this holiday season as well have all fallen prey to delays just as they were getting off the ground.
Thor Actress Cate Blanchett in Talks to Play Lilith in Borderlands Film Adaptation
Five years ago, Lionsgate announced that it was working on a movie adaptation of Gearbox popular looter-shooter RPG: Borderlands. It’s been five years in the making and some news about the production had been making the rounds since the announcement. The film will be produced by Avi and Ari Arad, who are perhaps best known for their work on the likes of the Spider-Man, Iron Man, and X-Men films. While the film will be directed by Eli Roth best known for this horror work on Hostel and Cabin Fever.
Today the film’s first casting information has been reviled with Oscar winner Cate Blanchett in talks to play the role of Lilith. Lilith was one of the playable characters in the original Borderlands game but took a backseat in later installments to provide a supporting role. Cate Blanchett won two Acadamy Awards for her role in The Aviator and Blue Jasmine but recently she started in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hela in Thor: Ragnarok.
