Sony has officially announced The Last of Us Part 2 during the climax of the PlayStation Experience 2016.
Shawn Layden noted the sequel is currently in the early stages of development, but mentioned Naughty Dog were keen to unveil the project at the event. Sure enough, a teaser trailer followed depicting an older Ellie playing her guitar, with Joel coming along at the end asking if she was going to through with her plan. In response, Ellie proclaims, ‘I’m going to kill every last one of them.’
That’s about all there is to go on right now, as there’s no release window or any further information available. The Last of Us 2 has been rumored for some time though, and Naughty Dog did reveal it had prototyped various ideas for a follow-up to its post-apocalyptic hit prior to embarking on full development of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
