The Simpsons Arcade delayed

Sony’s confirmed that it has delayed the release of retro title The Simpsons Arcade on PlayStation Network.

The game was originally due to form part of the weekly PSN update today in Europe for PlayStation Plus subscribers, though for reasons unknown didn’t make the cut.

A post on the EU PlayStation Blog reads: Sadly, we are now unable to publish The Simpsons Arcade until next week, Wednesday 8 February, and not today as listed."

"We apologise for getting you excited about playing it too early but, rest assured, it will still be available to PS Plus members at no extra cost for a full four weeks."

Originally released in 1991 and later ported to Commodore 64 and PC, The Simpsons Arcade sees Homer, Marge, Lisa and Bart attempting to rescue pint-sized Maggie from the clutches of the dastardly Mr. Burns. The game takes the form of a beat-‘em-up for up to four players, and uses the same engine as 1989’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Sony has announced that it will be offering its 100 per cent discount on Back to the Future: The Game for an extra week “by way of small compensation."

Stay tuned.
