In case you’d perhaps forgotten (and with everything going on these days, who could blame you?), the second season of Telltale Games’ The Wolf Among Us was due to begin later this year. If you had indeed forgotten, then that’s a nice surprise, eh?
So, now you have remembered, I’m sorry to tell you it’s being delayed into 2019.
Telltale Games announced today that a shift in the way the company now develops its games had partially caused the delay but wanted to be upfront with fans eager to see more from Bigby Wolf and his foul-mouthed friends.
The open letter adds further depth to the reasoning and adds assurance the game will only benefit from the extra time.
We’re committed to exploring new ways to tell our stories. Taking this extra time will allow us not only to focus on quality but also to experiment and iterate in order to craft something truly special.
Ultimately our goal is to deliver an experience deserving of the passion you've consistently shown for The Wolf Among Us, and these extra months will give us the time we need to do our best work. We're extremely enthusiastic about how the game is progressing so far, and we can't wait to dig even deeper.
The Wolf Among Us is perhaps the most highly regarded of Telltale’s non-Walking Dead output (though Tales from the Borderlands runs it pretty close) and it’ll be interesting to see what comes next.
The games are based on Bill Willingham's award-winning Fables comic book series, which sees fairy tale characters living among humans in a modern world. The twist being they’re just as grimy, seedy and depressing as the outside world they now inhabit.
If you haven’t played the first season, you can find it on PS3, PS Vita, and PS4 right now.
