THQ Nordic has been in the news quite a bit as of late. With some great looking titles in development, such as Darksiders III and the original Biomutant, THQ Nordic has made waves with acquisitions as of late.
Hot on the heels of their announcement in acquiring the Kingdoms of Amalur IP, THQ Nordic has announced acquisition of the Alone in the Dark and Act of War IPs. Alone in the Dark is credited for giving birth to the survival-horror genre before Capcom’s Resident Evil made it popular.

The last title to release on console in the Alone franchise was Alone in the Dark: Inferno, released on the PlayStation 3 and published by Atari. The title didn’t do so well with critics and suffered from quite a lot of technical issues. There was, of course, Alone in the Dark: Illumination that released on PC, but nobody wants to talk about that. Trust us: It will only hurt you if we did.
The Act of War franchise only saw release on the PC, but the acquisition of the IP means that THQ Nordic can go ahead and create whatever kind of spin-offs they so choose for consoles. Much in the same way that Command and Conquer released Renegade, a first-person shooter set in the Command and Conquer universe.
