Twitch TV is banning users for streaming content that is not gaming-related, which is under the site’s Terms of Service that accounts agreed to.
This is likely due to the use of the PlayStation 4’s PlayRoom augmented reality game to do live talk shows after a married couple did a live call-in show earlier this week named the Spartan Show. Others used this technique, but some were completely unrelated to gaming and inappropriate, including a man who exposed his drunk wife’s boob before stripping her naked on stream this weekend.
Twitch TV confirmed on their support Twitter last night that they will be monitoring for non-gaming content and specifically mentioned the PS4’s PlayRoom. It’s a reasonable response following the nude incident and needed to happen to prevent the popular gaming video site from becoming another Chatroulette, filled with obscene webcam streaming.
Those seeking to use PlayRoom to do live talk shows about topics outside the realm of gaming can use USTREAM instead.
