Ubisoft has announced that Skull & Bones on PS5 will be the first game in the company’s lineup to carry a price tag of $69.99, something which the publisher says will apply to all its major AAA games going forward.
Speaking with Axios, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed, “Some of the games will come at the same price as the competition. The big AAA games will come at $70.”
This is probably not surprising news given that a number of major publishers including 2K and Sony have hopped on the $70 bandwagon for major releases on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Skull & Bones is finally setting sail for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One on November 8, 2022. Ubisoft previously confirmed that the swashbuckling title is not a narrative game, and showcased a bunch of new footage during its Ubisoft Forward broadcast on Saturday evening.
Beyond Skull & Bones, Ubisoft is launching a new instalment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, in 2023 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. It’s also working on two new experiences – Assassin’s Creed Codename Red and Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe – for Assassin’s Creed Infinity.
In related news, the studio also announced plans to make its games more focused going forward, rather than attempting to have a game that does everything.
