It seems as though it was only yesterday that the evil Umbrella Corporation was creating biochemical weapons that resulted in the destruction of Raccoon City back in 1998.
With the city a distant memory, Umbrella quickly fell from grace, eventually leading to the rise of Tricell Pharmaceutical Company and their prominent role within the franchise. Tricell’s spot in the franchise was solidified in the CGI film Resident Evil: Degeneration, although we won’t go into details on its involvement for those who have yet to see the film.
According to Chris Kramer, Capcom’s Senior Director of Communications, the focus of the series will now move from Umbrella to their close competitor Tricell.
Of course, Kramer did not mention if Umbrella would make a re-emergence within Resident Evil or if the company had died completely, but we expect it to be the former.
Expect to have these questions and more answered once Resident Evil 5 ships for the PlayStation 3 on March 13.
