Epic Games Wasn’t Hiding Loading In Unreal Engine 5 PS5 Tech Demo
As noted by Game Maker’s Toolkit on Twitter, these type of sequences are commonly used in games to buy the game time to load in the next area. God of War, Uncharted, Tomb Raider, and others have featured areas like this where you have to squeeze through a narrow wall, if you recall.

However, Epic has said that this wasn’t the case during its impressive Unreal Engine 5 PS5 tech demo. Speaking to Kotaku, the developer commented:
The actual goal of that part was to force the player camera to be really close to the wall to show how much detail there is in the scene. We were not trying to hide any loading but actually show good looking assets in close-up.
The PS5 is scheduled for release in holiday 2020.
