War Thunder PS4 gets new update, fresh tanks and planes now available

Gaijin Entertainment has rolled out a new update for the PlayStation 4 version of War Thunder, adding a series of British tanks into the roster of playable ground forces for the World War II combat title.

The latest update brings the game to version 1.55, and adds a wealth of new additions including the Crusader Mk II (Cruiser Tank), A13 Mk I, Tetrarch Mk I, T17E2, Stirling B Mk I and Mk III. In addition, the patch also includes a number of extra aircraft, including British bombers, a new Russian jet, three new Japanese fighters, and a new variation of the Junkers JU-88 German bomber/dive bomber.

If that wasn’t enough, players can also take part in two new maps in the shape of Tunisia and the Second Battle of El Alamein. Check out a video detailing the new update below.

War Thunder is available for PS4 and PC and is free-to-play, although you can still purchase upgrades and additional planes/tanks with Golden Eagles, which are the game’s version of microtransactions. War Thunder was released as a launch title for Sony’s current-generation system in Europe and arrived in the U.S. in summer 2014, where cross-platform play was also made available. The game boasts over 10 million users worldwide.
