Kingdom Come Deliverance II developer Warhorse Studios has revealed in a post on X that it’s working on two new projects: an open-world Middle-earth RPG and a brand new Kingdom Come outing.
No further details were given, but the studio said it will share more info “when the time is right.” Fans of the developer will no doubt recall that it was heavily rumoured that a Lord of the Rings game was being worked on by Warhorse Studios.
This followed up on reports from September last year from Insider Gaming that the Abu Dhabi Investment Office was putting nearly $100 million into the project, which was described as a third-person action game similar to Hogwarts Legacy. Obviously, this doesn’t quite describe the open-world RPG that Warhorse Studios confirmed it’s working on, but it’s worth remembering that Crystal Dynamics was also said to be developing its own Lord of the Rings title, which could be the project funded by the ADIO.
Whatever Warhorse Studios is working on, the studio definitely has the chops when it comes to crafting open-world RPGs given its success with Kingdom Come Deliverance.
