Monolith Productions is the team behind the Middle Earth games, in which players discovered and fell in love with a mechanic called the nemesis system.
Unfortunately, Warner Bros. patenting that game mechanic means we’ve not seen it anywhere outside Shadow Of Mordor and Shadow Of War, though we have it confirmed that we’ll finally see it again soon, in Monolith’s upcoming Wonder Woman game.
A game we don’t know a whole lot about, though we now know (thanks to a job posting spotted by Tech4Gamers), that Gotham Knights developer WB Games Montreal is pitching in to help Monolith out on Wonder Woman.
The job listing is for WB Games Montreal, looking for a level artist to work as an “External Development Artist.” When the listing begins to describe the role, it begins by saying “In this role you[r] first mandate amongst us will be to work closely with our team and support the Monolith Productions team on their announced Wonder Woman game!”
It goes on to discuss the role’s focus will be to work both with WB Games Montreal’s internal teams and the studios “external network of global developers for the creation of props, architecture, and natural assets.”
In addition to the level artist role, PSU also spotted that a character artist role with the same title of “External Development Artist” also says that a successful applicant’s first priority will be to work with Monolith on Wonder Woman.
None of the other open roles WB Games Montreal has listed on their website make any mention of helping Monolith Productions out with Wonder Woman.
That the teams are working together isn’t a huge surprise, both have been knee-deep in DC projects for years, and both are under Warner Bros.
Studios under the same umbrella help each other out all the time, though it’s unclear at this point if WB Games Montreal’s part in the development of the Wonder Woman game is limited to just helping out where it can, or if they’ll be taking a bigger role in its creation.
