We already knew that PS2 mech combat game Zone of the Enders was getting a spit n’ polish for PS4 this year, and now we know the cult Kojima joint is coming to PS4 September 6. Pre-orders are now live too.
Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner – Mars will feature updated visuals remastered for 4K resolution, spanking new audio design and a flashy new VR mode. It appears to be a more concerted effort at bringing the game to a new console generation this time too after a disappointing PS3/360 HD release.
The Zone of the Enders remake adds a ‘Pro Mode’ that allows for a faster set up of sub-weapons. There’s also a ‘Very Easy’ mode which will help with the first-person views of the PSVR mode. The VR mode includes a 3D Hangar, 3D model viewer, and a cinematic theatre. Classy.
There’s also a nice accompanying trailer, just to give you a taste of what to expect.
PS4 digital copies get bundled with a dynamic theme and special Z.O.E. avatars. You can pre-order Z.O.E. right now on PS4 and PSVR for £24.99.
It will be interesting to see how well the game is received. If Konami is willing to rebirth a less popular Hideo Kojima title and sees a financial reward in it, then you can only think the Metal Gear series is on the cards down the road.
