GameStop boss Paul Raines has heaped praised on Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, saying the Santa Monica outfit has done ‘a spectacular job’ with the latest entry in the action-adventure franchise.
Speaking during an interview with FOX News (via GameSpot), Raines commented, "I’ve played all the Uncharted series [games] and they’re all spectacular. One just gets better than the other. Naughty Dog has done a spectacular job again.
"The character development is rich. It’s a little bit of a Raiders of the Lost Ark adventure. It’s a fantastic game [and] has sold through well for us. We love Sony first-party games, anyway; always have."
Furthermore, when Liz Claman referred to the game as ‘scenery porn,’ Raines simply replied that “it’s spectacular.”
Uncharted 4 was released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on May 10, and sold 2.7 million copies during its first week. The game takes place a few years after Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and sees Nate teaming up with his brother Sam to hunt down a legendary pirate treasure.
GameStop isn’t the only outlet to extol the virtues of Naughty Dog’s latest effort. Ready at Dawn labelled the sequel ‘a masterpiece,’ Microsoft’s Jeff Rubenstein (a former member of Naughty Dog himself) praised the development team’s efforts, and Quantum Break’s Thomas Puha described Nate’s swan song as the ‘best game in the series.’
