Kingdom Hearts 3 director Tetsuya Nomura has spilled more details on the game’s various Keyblade transformations in a new interview with Famitsu magazine.
Keyblades are a main element in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, and function as the protagonist Sora’s primary weapon. Nomura-san has now shed more details on their transformation patterns, giving us an idea of how they’ll perform in the hotly anticipated JRPG sequel.
Nomura talks Kingdom Hearts 3 keyblades
“The Keyblades we’re currently making have two transformation patterns. It should be noted that similar to the Keyblade that transforms into a tank and shield that we showed this time, there is not always a division of attack and defense,” Nomura said.
“The Keyblade that appeared in the previous trailer transforms into a pair of crossbows for each hand and a bazooka,” he continued. “How a Keyblade transforms depends on the Keyblade.”
Kingdom Hearts 3 release date
Kingdom Hearts 3 was announced during Sony’s E3 2013 press conference alongside Final Fantasy 15, although we’re still no closer to finding out when the game will hit stores. However, speaking in a recent interview, Nomura suggested that the game is still some way off, with the team currently working on unannounced worlds within the upcoming Disney-RPG. Regardless, this year is a significant milestone for the series, as it celebrates its 15th anniversary; Square Enix will mark the occasion by releasing Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 HD ReMIX for PS4.
The same can be said for the hotly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake however, which is also still in heavy development nearly two years after its initial reveal.
