Infinity Ward‘s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is close to surpassing the European sales of Call of Duty: Vanguard, according to GSD data obtained by GamesIndustry.biz.
The sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot ranked as the best-selling game in Europe for October 2022, even though it didn’t launch until the end of the month.
However, the data claims that in its first two weeks on sale, Modern Warfare 2 has very nearly eclipsed Vanguard’s European sales and will likely beat them next week.
The game’s success has been well documented by publisher Activision, who announced recently that Modern Warfare 2 is the fastest-selling game in the Call of Duty series by reaching sales of one billion dollars in just 10 days.

Meanwhile, Sony revealed earlier this week that Infinity Ward’s shooter topped the PS5 PS Store download chart for its launch month in the EU and US. Furthermore, it also recorded the biggest launch for the series on the PS Store to date.
Looking ahead, Activision has announced that the Call of Duty series will receive a premium release next year, although it has been widely reported that this is in fact a major expansion to Modern Warfare 2, not a new game.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is now available for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. Have a butchers at our review here.
