The developer behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has revealed that the PlayStation 4 version of the upcoming first-person shooter will include mouse and keyboard support. This is a pretty big deal, as to be fair not a lot of PS4 games support these features, so it’s good to know if that if you do fancy switching your DualShock 4 for a PC control setup, you can.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 Mouse & Keyboard Confirmed
Speaking in an extensive feature on the PlayStation Blog, Joe Cocet, Modern Warfare’s multiplayer designer director, revealed that PS4 gamers can dust off their mouse and keyboard for the game and join their Xbox One mates in the same control setup.
One of the main ways is that we are planning on matchmaking based on peripheral. We’re also supporting different peripherals, so if you want to plug a keyboard [and mouse] into your PS4, you can.
This is a key addition for Modern Warfare on PS4, as the matchmaking system is tailored specifically to what controller setup the user has. So, if you’re playing on a pad, then you’ll be matched up against other players who use a pad, for example.
It’s even more vital considering that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will support cross-platform play, which is a first for the series.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is pencilled in for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on October 25. Infinity Ward confirmed earlier today that we’ll get our first look at the campaign in action soon, and also detailed the Buddy Boost mechanic that was scrapped from the multiplayer.
While previous entries in the multi-million selling franchise featured a Season Pass for post-launch DLC, Modern Warfare is dropping this system in favour of free updates.
One thing Modern Warfare won’t include is a mini-map, which has caused some controversy among fans.
