Infinity Ward is keeping tight-lipped on the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Spec Ops mode, but fresh rumours have suggested that it will really up the ante by including an open-world for players to explore. That’s at least according to Gaming Revolution, which has previously accurately outed various Call of Duty-related info.
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Spec Ops Details Leak
According to the report, the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Spec Ops mode will allow the player and their co-op partner to fully explore an open-world setting, picking up missions as they see fit. In addition, Spec Ops will reportedly feature over 80 missions, and will include some familiar characters, including the ever-popular Captain Price.
There’s also elements of battle royale sprinkled in for good measure, such as a gunship dropping players into the combat zone and then being required to scavenge for essential supplies while on the map. Completing missions will then earn you cash, which you can use across multiple Call of Duty Modern Warfare game modes.
In terms of characters, Spec Ops includes both US and Russian soldiers, with 20 playable characters to select from. Furthermore, it has been reported that the mode will be free-to-play; in other words, you won’t need to own a copy of Modern Warfare to get stuck in.
Obviously this is all speculation at this point, so be sure to take this with a healthy dose of salt. While on the subject, we have heard reports about a Call of Duty Modern Warfare battle royale mode too, so keep that in mind.
Infinity Ward will reveal full details on the game’s multiplayer component on August 1. In the meantime, it’s detailed the new Gunfight mode and confirmed that players can expect factions to be part of the multiplayer package.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare is scheduled for release on October 25 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
