Capcom hosted its Capcom Spotlight Showcase today, and while a lot of what was shown were old trailers and announcements we’d already seen/knew about, there were some new details revealed.
Like how there’s a new remaster for Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny coming later in 2025, to hold fans over until Onimusha: Way of the Sword arrives sometime in 2026. And speaking of Way of the Sword, we also got some new details around the first new entry in the Onimusha franchise in years.
Highlighted in a PlayStation Blog post, Way of the Sword will focus on three main aspects.
A cast of compelling characters, including a new protagonist and enemies you’ll face off against.
A dark fantasy set in Edo period Kyoto, brimming with historical, real-life locations.
The ultimate sword-fighting action delivering the visceral satisfaction of slicing through enemies.
These are definitely new details, though they’re also ones that fans would have already guessed at, like the fact that there’s a new protagonist this time around. We also already knew that it would be set in Kyoto, something Capcom revealed when it first showed off that a new Onimusha game was on its way.
Even the trailer shown today, was the exact same one Capcom showed during The Game Awards 2024.
Hopefully we’ll get more, very new details, sometime soon.
