CD Projekt RED Confirms Layoffs Have Hit The Witcher Multiplayer Spinoff Project Sirius

CD Projekt RED has confirmed previous reports that it has laid off nine people from the Project Sirius team, revealing staff at its Boston and Warsaw teams have lost their jobs as a result of the cuts.

We adjusted the size of the Sirius team to reflect the project’s needs at this stage of development,” the studio revealed to Eurogamer. “As a result, four people in Boston and five in Warsaw are leaving the company, while nine others have been invited to internal recruitment processes for potential roles on other CD Projekt Red projects.”

Unfortunately this isn’t the first time that Project Sirius’ development team has suffered job losses. Back in April 2023, CDPR confirmed that 29 people had been laid off, “mainly on The Molasses Flood’s side.”

Project Sirius is a multiplayer spinoff for The Witcher series and is in development at The Molasses Flood, a CDPR studio that officially merged with the company in April last year. Damian Isla, the studio’s co-founder announced at the same time that he had departed the developer. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Project Sirius had taken on Kwan Perng — who had previously worked on Destiny 2: The Final Shape and Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons — as the game’s lead writer.

Project Sirius has yet to attract a release date.
