CD Projekt RED has announced during its third quarter financial report that The Witcher Remake will not be released until after The Witcher 4.
Adam Kicinski, president and joint CEO of CDPR, explained that the remake of The Witcher will be based on technology used in The Witcher 4, hence why it won’t be coming until after the next all-new chapter in the popular fantasy-RPG series.
Coming back to The Witcher Remake and when it will come, yes, it will come after Polaris (The Witcher 4), which is a consequence of how we think about this project. I think that The Witcher Remake will be based in big part on technologies from Polaris, so it will be developed partially in parallel to Polaris, but once Polaris is launched, everything for Polaris will be then in the final shape, and it will be partially reused in the remake.
The Witcher Remake was announced earlier this month and will utilise the Unreal Engine 5, with CDPR later confirming that the project will be an open world game. Meanwhile, the new The Witcher game will form part of a trilogy and will not be released until around 2025.
