CD Projekt RED’s massively anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 will be receiving its own spin-off card game, Cyberpunk 2077: Afterlife – The Card Game. It’s due out in 2020, and is manufactured by tabletop game company, CMON. Anyone who is remotely interested in Cyberpunk 2077 will probably want to keep an eye out for this, as it actually sounds pretty decent.
Cyberpunk 2077: Afterlife – The Card Game Detailed
The Cyberpunk 2077 card game sees players cast as Fixers; that is, folk who hire cyberpunks such as the game’s protagonist to do their dirty work for them. The object of Cyberpunk 2077: Afterlife – The Card Game is to draft cards aid you in completing missions, thus boosting your Street Cred until you emerge victorious.
Afterlife’s announcement confirms the project is a collaboration between CMON and CD Projekt RED, and is designed by Eric M. Lang, who has previously worked on the likes of Blood Rage and Bloodborne: The Card Game. He’s also a self-described “huge fan” of Cyberpunk, so that’s good to know.
Cyberpunk 2077 is pencilled in for an April 16, 2020 release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The game will feature Keanu Reeves as a major character, and folk were so impressed by his appearance at E3 2019 during Microsoft’s presser, that they want his ‘you’re breathtaking‘ quote to be immortalised in the game as a Trophy/Achievement.
While the game is still some way off from launch, CD Projekt RED is bringing Cyberpunk 2077 to Gamescom later this month, so expect more details then.
Here’s the full blurb on the game to whet your appetite:
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character’s cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.
