The upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, which is codenamed Project Orion by developer CD Projekt RED, is currently on a ‘conceptual design level,’ the developer has revealed.
Speaking during an investor presentation today, Adam Badowski, chief creative officer at CDPR, offered a brief update on the much-anticipated sequel.
This project is on a conceptual design level right now, and it’s going to be designed by a team of veterans who were responsible for fine-tuning Cyberpunk 2077 and designing Phantom Liberty. We’re going to work out of North America, Vancouver and Boston locations, team leadership are already there. And late in 2024, we’re going to work with teams comprising several dozen people, while as a target, half of the developers are going to work out of northern US and the other half out of Poland.
The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel hasn’t been given an official title yet, but it is confirmed to utilise Epic Games’ Unreal Engine technology. It’s obviously a major project, and as such CDPR is reported to be putting hundreds of developers to work on the new game.
CDPR recently launched Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.00 and the expansion Phantom Liberty, which the studio confirmed are among the ‘last big updates‘ for the epic sci-fi title.
