Destiny 2 will release on PlayStation 5 according to a tweet from developer Bungie. Though no release date or other details were provided regarding Destiny 2 making the leap to PS5, the very fact that it continues to command a substantial following going into the next console generation all but ensured its debut on Sony’s next lump of PlayStation hardware.
Commenting as a reply to the official Xbox Twitter feed, Bungie stated “Destiny 2 will be on next-gen platforms! More details to come.”

Again, details are light on the ground – and until we know more about Sony’s strategy in regard to cross-gen purchases we won’t know if Bungie plans to enable Destiny 2 on PlayStation 5 via a separate purchase or a free upgrade for existing PS4 owners. Additionally, we would also expect Destiny 2 on PlayStation 5 to support cross-save too – not least because I can’t imagine very many players will want to reset their progress years after the release of the game.
As it is, surely the news that Destiny 2 is PS5 bound is a good thing. Right?
