Bungie yesterday confirmed the official Destiny 2 release date following months of rumors, revealing the sequel to the 2014 shared-world shooter will launch on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on September 8, 2017. The game centres on the Guardians waging war against the Cabal unit known as the Gaul/Red Legion, who have launched a devastating attack on humanity’s Last City and Tower, leaving the former strongholds in ruins—hence why you lost all your gear.

In addition, Destiny 2 will support a variety of different SKUS at launch outside of the standard version, including the Collector’s Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and Limited Edition. See our earlier story on what each version of the game includes before you plonk down your hard-earned cash.

The original Destiny was released on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 in September 2014. Despite a shaky start, the game quickly built up a loyal fanbase, with Bungie rolling out a number of expansions over the past few years, including The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King, and Rise of Iron. This week saw the launch of Destiny Age of Triumph, the final online update for the game that introduces a wealth of new content, including a new Record Book, fresh weapons, gear, and more.
