Bungie has flicked the reset switch on Destiny’s game world for another week, which can only mean one thing: yep, it’s time for a fresh set of challenges for Guardians to tackle, including a new Nightfall and fresh arenas for the Prison of Elders.
First up, the Nightfall this week takes the form of the Shield Brothers, which made its debut with The Taken King expansion. You’ll have a number of modifiers present when you have a crack at this tough strike, including Arc Burn, Juggler, and Ironclad.
The Prison of Elders has been refreshed to incorporate Machine Wrath and Cult of the Worm for Level 32 and Level 34, respectively, while the King’s Fall raid challenge this week takes the form of Golgoroth.
Destiny was released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 in September 2014. While the vanilla edition of the game was criticised for its lack of narrative and game modes, the game managed to set tills alight, becoming the biggest new franchise launch of all time with $500 million in sales generated on day one. It went on to sell 6.3 million copies in its first month alone.
Bungie has released three major expansions for Destiny to date: The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King. The latter is the largest DLC pack to date, featuring a host of new content, such as missions, new Crucible maps, weapons, armor, Bounties, vendors, and more.
However, the former Halo developer has said that it plans to eschew the traditional DLC release schedule moving forward, instead offering time-based events for players to take part in, such as the Sparrow Racing League and this week’s Crimson Days.
Despite this, fans have been voicing their disappointment with the new event model, and Bungie has seemingly acknowledged their dissatisfaction after sending out a survey to players asking if they still play the shared-world shooter anymore.
It hasn’t helped matters that Destiny 2 has reportedly been delayed from its intended release in September 2016.
