Update 12.00 GMT – New details have landed about Far Cry New Dawn from the official press release.
Set seventeen years after a global nuclear catastrophe, Far Cry New Dawn brings players into a wildly beautiful and radically transformed Hope County, Montana. Life has begun to emerge from the chaos, but the survivors now face a new threat – the merciless Highwaymen and their leaders The Twins, Mickey and Lou. Raised in a lawless frontier, the twin sisters and their band of scavengers live only for today and have descended upon Hope County to take all available resources. To push back this devastating threat, players must help the Survivors grow stronger, craft a makeshift arsenal and form unexpected alliances to fight for survival in a dangerous new frontier.
At the Homebase, players will prepare to face off against the threat of the Highwaymen. The Homebase, called Prosperity, is the stronghold of the Survivors. Here, players can craft makeshift weapons and vehicles and train their Guns for Hire – including new and familiar faces. As players progress, they can upgrade the Homebase for more powerful weapons and gear. The Homebase is also a launchpad to Expeditions, where for the first time in Far Cry, the adventure is more than local. Set in memorable locations across the US, from wetlands to canyons and more, Expeditions drop players into unique locations where they must grab a package of valuable materials and get out, quickly.
Update 02:30 – The game will be available on February 15, 2019. A brand new trailer can be seen below.
Update 01:07 – The game is now available to preorder on Amazon in both digital and physical formats. Alongside that some brand new screenshots for the game are available. Credit to Wario64 on Twitter for spotting this.
Details from the Amazon listing shed some more light on what New Dawn is all about:
- Online co-op seems to be the focus this time around.
- Lead the fight against the highwaymen and their ruthless leaders, the Twins. (Presumably these are the twin women on the cover art)
- Build up your home base and recruit specialists to upgrade it as you unlock all-new features.
- Battle your enemies for resources in Hope County and around the country as you venture to new locations. (This confirms that the game takes place after the events of Far Cry 5)
- Upgrade to the Deluxe Edition to receive additional weapons, outfits, and vehicles.
The new Far Cry apocalypse game, which was teased briefly earlier this week, has been leaked in more detail ahead of the The Game Awards 2018 if this box art is legit.
Due to be officially unveiled later today, it looks like the rumored cover art reveals what could be two female antagonists in a post apocalypse setting. One is wielding a make-shift crossbow and it looks like they’ve captured someone, who they’ve tied to the back of a car.
It’s rumored that the new Far Cry Apocalypse game, likely now called Far Cry New Dawn, starts where things left off in one of the endings in Far Cry 5, where Montana got struck by a nuclear bomb.
The last game in the series, Far Cry 5, became the fastest-selling game in the history of the franchise. With a fantastic villain by the name of Joseph Seed, live events and a community-focused arcade mode, Ubisoft evolved the series to a new level.
Let’s hope there’s more of the same for the next Far Cry! Stay tuned for the official unveil in The Game Awards 2018 live stream. There should be a trailer landing later.
