Speaking during an interview with Famitsu magazine, Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naoki Yoshida has revealed that the highly anticipated JRPG will receive a playable demo in the weekends leading up to launch.
As is with the case with many demos nowadays, any progress you make during the demo will transfer over to the final version of Final Fantasy XVI. Here’s what Yoshida-san had to say in a translation of the article:
Trial version is planned. However, it will be delivered just before the release date. This is because the desire to play that I got from the trial version fades away if I put it out months before the release. We’re already preparing for the trial version, but I think we’ll probably be able to deliver the beginning of the story about two weeks before the release date.
Once you’ve played the game to the point you’re interested in, you can go straight to the purchase screen and continue playing with that data.
Final Fantasy XVI is due out on June 22, 2023 for PS5, with a PC version expected to show up later down the line. Speaking in a separate interview, Yoshi-P also revealed that the team is confident the game’s release date won’t be delayed at the last minute.
