The Gran Turismo Sport release date has seemingly been outed in the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine U.K.
According to the publication, the PlayStation 4-exclusive racer will be released on November 16, 2017, which aligns neatly with Sony’s previous confirmation that the game will ship this fall. Obviously this isn’t set in stone, although it’s worth noting that the magazine generally has a solid track record when it comes to outing this sort of information.
GT Sport was originally scheduled for a November 2016 release before being pushed into 2017. The planned beta was actually scrapped last year to ensure the game made its holiday 2016 window, although it was still delayed all the same. Sony later re-confirmed a beta for this year, which went ahead without a hitch a few months back.
Sony recently confirmed that the game will support PS4 Pro in a big way, clocking in at 4K resolution and chugging along at a silky-smooth 60fps. In addition, GT Sport will also benefit from increased visual fidelity via High-Dynamic Range (HDR), so those of you who have the necessary compatible TVs will be in for a treat.
While eschewing the traditional number in its title, GT Sport is very much a full-fledged entry into the venerable racing simulation franchise. Gamers will be able to tuck into a variety of game modes, including a full career option, heaps of playable vehicles, and dynamic weather effects. There’s also a PlayStation VR-specific mode in the shape of VR Tour for those who fancy strapping themselves into a virtual driver’s seat.
The Gran Turismo series launched back in 1997 for the original PlayStation, and quickly established itself as one of the most successful racing game series on the market. Sony followed GT with a sequel in 1999 and since then the franchise has appeared on every major Sony platform to date, bar PS Vita. To date, the Gran Turismo series has sold over 76 million copies worldwide across PSOne, PS2, PSP, and PS3 formats.
