Arrowhead Game Studio‘s celebrated bug-blasting sequel Helldivers 2 arrived for Xbox Series X/S last week, and from the look of things, it’s off to a great start. The Xbox website lists Helldivers 2 as the ‘top paid’ game for the store, beating out NBA 2K26 and EA Sports Madden NFL 26.
Beyond that, Alinea Analytics stated Helldivers 2 sold 926,000 copies six days after its release for Xbox formats, so it’s obviously off to a great start. Interestingly enough, Helldivers 2, which was originally a PS5 console exclusive, arrived on Microsoft’s console the same day as former Xbox-exclusive Gears of War launched for Sonys’s console in the form of Gears of War Reloaded.

Helldivers 2 was released in February 2024 for PC and PS5, and has remained one of the most successful multiplayer sinks on Sony’s console to date. Arrowhead Game Studios has been extremely proactive on the support front, releasing a steady stream of patches to iron out lingering bugs and balancing weapons, while also releasing new content in the form of additional Warbonds and more. The game’s creative director confirmed that Helldivers 2 has around 2.5 million players each week.
