Dexterto reports that fans have discovered a hidden difficulty mode that isn’t for the faint of heart. If you thought Hollow Knight: Silksong was difficult, now this mode will leave you tearing out your hair.
The mode in question is called Steel Soul and can be unlocked in the extras menu. When in the menu, input “Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right” and the mode will unlock. You don’t need to finish the game, and it can be accessed right from the start.

The code was discovered by dataminers, who later confirmed that it works. The Steel Soul mode is brutal, removing all respawn points, and you only get one life in the game since permadeath is activated. Once you die, you’re save is wiped and you must start the game from scratch.
Hollow Knight: Silksong has been a long time coming for many fans and received a surprise release date during Gamescom weekend. Though it’s only been out for a short time, it reached over 600,000 concurrent players in just two days on Steam.
