The developer behind the Brothers in Arms franchise has indicated it’s eager to make another instalment in the action-packed World War II-based series.
Speaking at GDC last week, Gearbox Software commented, “A lot of people love Brothers in Arms and they love [series protagonist Sgt. Matt Baker]. Obviously we never really got to finish that story. We’ve always said, ‘Man, we want to go back to this.’"
Despite this, the Borderlands creator was quick to add, “we have nothing to announce.”
Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway was the last entry to date to hit PlayStation and Xbox formats back in 2008, with the series subsequently arriving in iOS and Android ever since.
A new chapter, Brothers in Arms: Furious 4, was announced at E3 2011 during Ubisoft’s press conference, with a project release date of the first half of 2012.
However, the publisher abandoned its trademarks for the title, with all rights to Furious 4 and Brothers in Arms passing to Gearbox. The studio later confirmed that Furious 4 would not be part of the Brothers in Arms series following negative feedback to the project from fans.
Despite this, nothing has ever materialized on Furious 4 or a new Brothers in Arms title. However, Gearbox has assured the series is not dead.
