Burnout Burnout Takedown Need for Speed News PS5 Stellar Entertainment

New Burnout Game Possibly Teased By Need For Speed Studio Stellar Entertainment

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered developer Stellar Entertainment has got Burnout fans hot under the collar after a tweet from the studio appears to be teasing a new entry in the much-loved racing franchise.

Our way of giving you (kinda weird) insider intel about what we’re working on, without actually telling you what we’re working on. And the bosses*still* haven’t issued any take downs! Happy days!

An image accompanying the tweet reads: “POV: You’re about to be rear-ended.”

Burnout fans will be immediately familiar with the terms rear-ending and take-downs, with the latter being particularly relevant as it’s a phrase used for eliminating your opponent’s car. Furthermore, Burnout: Takedown is the name of the third game in the series.

Burnout hasn’t seen a new entry in years outside of Burnout Paradise Remastered, and fans have been eager to see the franchise return. However, back in November 2022, Criterion, the studio that created Burnout, said it had no plans to bring it back anytime soon.

In recent years, Criterion Games worked on numerous entries in the Need for Speed series (the most recent being 2022’s Need for Speed Unbound), and also helped out on Star Wars Battlefront II and Battlefield V.
