EA has confirmed that only progress in FIFA 21‘s Ultimate Team and VOLTA Football modes will transfer from PS4 to PS5 with the free upgrade of the game.
In a post on Reddit, highlighting a section of a blog post talking about the free PS4 to PS5 upgrade of the game, EA highlights the following
“All progress you make or content you acquire within FIFA 21 Ultimate Team (including players, items, coins, FIFA points, match record, and leaderboard placement), as well as all progression in VOLTA Football will transfer from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5”.
EA then goes on to say that
“Progress within all other modes including Online Seasons, Co-op Seasons, Career Mode, Pro Club, etc. will be specific to the console you are playing on and won’t transfer between consoles.
This adds to the confusing situation surrounding PS4 save data transferring to PS5 after it emerged that this wouldn’t be the case for every game. Most of your save data will not carry over in DiRT 5 and for Planet Coaster you have to upload it to the game’s workshop to take it to the next-generation console.
FIFA 21 releases for PS4 on October 9, 2020. The game will come to PS5 on November 12, 2020, in the US and November 19, 2020, in the UK and EU.
