Sony’s PS5 is showing no signs of slowing down as the year winds down, with the console named by Circana analyst Mat Piscatella as the best-selling hardware platform for November 2023 in terms of unit and dollar sales.
PlayStation 5 remained the best-selling hardware platform in both unit and dollar sales during November 2023. Xbox Series ranked 2nd across both measures.
The PS5 has been performing solidly in the US for months now since the console is now readily available without the issue of stock shortages. In addition, sales in Europe and the UK have also been strong; back in October, it was reported that PS5 sales were up 175% year-on-year in PAL regions.
Sony launched the PS5 Slim during November so that’s obviously going to have had an impact on overall sales, not to mention the fact Black Friday was in full swing during that month, which resulted in some major discounts for the console. In the UK, Black Friday week gave the PS5 its best period outside of launch.
Looking ahead, it has been heavily rumoured that Sony will launch a PS5 Pro next holiday season, and leaker Tom Henderson claims that the format holder expects specs for the machine to leak this month due to dev kits arriving with third-party studios.
