PS5 DualSense On Track To Break Sony’s Instagram ‘Like’ Record

The PS5 DualSense controller was fully unveiled yesterday evening by Sony, and unsurprisingly, it’s causing a lot of ripples – no, make that waves – on social media. In fact, it’s doing so well that it’s on track to beat the format holder’s own ‘Like’ record on Instagram.

PS5 DualSense Gunning For Sony Instagram Record

The controller has already nearly amassed four million Likes on Instagram and the post hasn’t even been up for 24 hours yet. Sony’s PS5 logo image currently has the most number of likes for a games company post, which drummed up 5.36 million back in January.

Third place goes to the Fortnite Avengers Endgame crossover from April 2019, which notched up 2.7 million Likes. So, the DualSense is already comfortable snapping at the heels of the PS5 Logo reveal in second place.

Sony’s PlayStation Instagram account currently possesses 22 million followers, placing it with the top 200 most popular profiles on the social media platform. By comparison, Xbox has 9.9 million, and Nintendo boasts six million.

As for the DualSense, the controller features a similar design to the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4, which is to be expected. After all, each generation’s controller subtly expands on the design of its predecessor, so why would Sony want to deviate from that trend?

The pad features haptic feedback triggers, a Touchpad, and replaces the Share button with the new Create tool. Sony’s also promising healthy battery life for the controller.

As for the console itself, Sony has once again reiterated that the PS5 will be launching this holiday season. Furthermore, we’re going to get a look at the system’s actual design within the coming months, so stay tuned for more on that.
