Sony Computer Entertainment U.K. has announced that the release date for No Man’s Sky has been bumped forward to August 10.
While it’s only a few days it does mean that U.K. gamers can enjoy Hello Games’ ambitious PlayStation 4 title on the same day as other European countries.
The news comes in light of Sony confirming that No Man’s Sky had been pushed back to August from its original release date of June 24. Hello Games said the decision was made due to the fact "that some key moments needed extra polish to bring them up to our standards."
No Man’s Sky brings epic space exploration to PS4
Teased at VGX 2013 and fully revealed at E3 2014 during Sony’s press conference, No Man’s Sky has been a long time coming and has endured its fair share of hiccups during production.
Flooding at Hello Games’ Guildford offices on Christmas Eve 2013 resulted in damage to most of the developer’s equipment, and while development of the game continued afterwards, the studio admitted it had been tempted to cancel the game during this time.
No Man’s Sky is one of the most ambitious projects to date for Sony’s flagship console. The game features a sprawling open-world galaxy for players to explore, where players can visit planets and scan them for resources and points of interest, before uploading them to a database known as The Atlas.
Each planet typically includes procedurally-generated flora and fauna for players to observe, although your efforts won’t go unnoticed. If you harvest too many resources, then you’ll have entities known as The Sentinels hunting you down—think of them as No Man’s Sky’s take on Grand Theft Auto’s ‘Wanted’ system.
So vast is No Man’s Sky that Hello Games has said that around 99.9 percent of planets probably won’t be visited.
