Dusk Golem, an insider with a long track record of outing info on the Resident Evil series, has claimed that Capcom has recently started development on a Resident Evil 1 Remake.
The insider mentioned development of the RE1 Remake while discussing the reason why he feels a section of Resident Evil Requiem that featured the mansion was cut from the final version of the game. “Likewise, I’m aware that more recently full production on a RE:1 Remake has gone underway (though years out time of writing),” he commented.
This will of course be the second time that the original Resident Evil has been remade, as the classic survival horror title was revamped for the Nintendo GameCube back in 2002. Take this with a pinch of salt for the time being though, as nothing has been announced by Capcom yet.
In related news, Dusk Golem has long stated that the next two remakes in the franchise will be Resident Evil CODE: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero, which are due out in 2027 and 2028, respectively. Golem claims that RE:CV Remake is set to be announced at some point this year, and going by Capcom’s previous reveals, will likely be unveiled this summer.
The latest entry in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil Requiem, is now available for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. You can read our full review here.
