The producer of Resident Evil Requiem has weighed in on on the perennial rumours that Leon S. Kennedy is in the game, warning fans that supposed leaks are simply fake.
Speaking with Stevivor, Masato Kumazawa didn’t confirm or deny if Leon is in the game or not, he made it clear that recent details on the character, including an image of an eyepatch-wearing Kenned yare not authentic at all. He also noted that with AI it’s particularly easy to fake this sort of thing nowadays, and that anything other than officially-released info from Capcom themselves is ‘detective work’ on the part of fans.

Apart from any official information that Capcom has released, the rest is more detective work [on the part of players]. So I would suggest to please not take everything at face value. Considering that now is the time when AI [can be used to make] videos and photos, we don’t know what’s right or what’s wrong. It’s just that players are free to believe what they would like to believe; what I’d like to tell is that, please, unless it’s officially released from Capcom, we can’t give you any confirmation. There has been a photo lately of Leon with an eye patch, and just basically saying there’s a DLC or a new costume for Leon — but just to make sure, these are all fake news.
Leon has been rumoured to be appearing as the second playable character in Resident Evil Requiem for a while now, mostly through known insider Dusk Golem. For now though, nothing has been officially confirmed by Capcom.
Elsewhere, speaking in a separate interview with Push Start Australia, Kumazawa-san touched base on the scrapped multiplayer concept for Resident Evil Requiem, revealing that a few elements of that version still remain in the current game.
Resident Evil Requiem is slated to launch on February 27, 2025 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.
