BioShock 4 Cloud Chamber new BioShock News PS5 Rod Fergusson

Rumour – Cloud Chamber Laying Off Staff As Rod Fergusson Takes Over Leadership Of BioShock 4 Studio

Cloud Chamber, the development outfit behind the next chapter in the BioShock franchise, is reportedly laying off an undisclosed number of staff as ex-Diablo general manager, Rod Fergusson, takes over as studio head.

That’s according to a report by Jason Schreier at Bloomberg, and follows previous reports that BioShock 4 had recently failed an internal development review. Fergusson only announced last week that he had departed Blizzard after leading the Diablo franchise for the past five years, and had previously worked at Irrational Games – the studio behind 2013’s BioShock Infinite, which is the most recent entry in the series to date.

Following the development review, it was also reported that publishing behemoth 2K had replaced leadership at Cloud Chamber, and per Bloomberg’s report, we now know that part of this involved the appointment of Fergusson as studio boss. In wake of this report, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick assured fans that BioShock 4 would eventually see the light of day.

Back in May 2023, it was reported that BioShock 4 had been in development hell resulting in the game being rebooted four times, the most recent allegedly being in Summer 2022. Prior to that, it was claimed that BioShock 4 would be set in Antartica, with an open-world for players to explore featuring multiple endings.
