Shadow of the Tomb Raider release teaser could hit this week
Square Enix looks set to tease the long-rumored Shadow of the Tomb Raider at Gamescom this week.
The publishing giant posted an image of heroine Lara Croft on its official Tomb Raider Instagram page, nothing that the nimble archaeologist is looking ahead at “what’s to come.”
Square Enix hasn’t officially confirmed Shadow of the Tomb Raider, although it did address rumors earlier this year, hinting that gamers may be able to catch up on Lara’s next outing later this year.
E3 was the rumored platform for the game’s initial reveal, although that obviously didn’t materialise. As such, Gamescom was pegged as a likely place for Rise of the Tomb Raider’s sequel to finally show its face, although we’ll have to wait and see.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider was leaked in November 2016 when a passenger on a Metro in Montreal snapped a picture of a presentation for the game on a laptop next to him. This lead many to deduce that the action-adventure sequel is being handled primarily by Eidos Montreal, rather than Crystal Dynamics.
While a Shadow of the Tomb Raider release date has yet to be confirmed, it’s looking likely we’ll see it released at some point in the first half of 2018.
A number of leaked images of the game have suggested that Lara Croft’s next adventure may be set in Mexico, with a shot of an Aztec pyramid spotted in one of the concept images for the game. In addition, we also got a sneak peak at the game’s logo and various new weapons that Lara will be able to wield.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will presumably launch for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
