Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Movie Has Kicked Off Production This Week, Confirms Jeff Fowler

Director Jeff Fowler has revealed that production on Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has officially kicked off this week ahead of its planned April 2022 release date.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will reunite most of the cast of the original film, which launched in 2020 and achieved $319.7 million at the box office.

The film will star Ben Schwartz as Sonic the Hedgehog, Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, and James Marsden as Tom Wachowski. In addition, Sonic’s pal Miles ‘Tails’ Prower is also going to appear in the film following his cameo in the first movie, and it’s also believe Knuckles will show up, too.

Sonic the Hedgehog is celebrating his 30th anniversary this year, having first launched for the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis way back in 1991.

Presumably we’ll be getting a brand new Sonic game to accompany the birthday festivities, as SEGA has already revealed it intends on marking the Blue Blur’s 30th anniversary with various announcements.
