Since the beginning of August, the games industry has had a big release on at least one platform almost every week, and based on what we know is coming that’s going to continue up until the middle of December.
All that competition makes the sales charts an important place to keep an eye on, and game sales in the US for September 2023 show something you don’t see every month, an Xbox Game Studios game at the top of the sales charts.
Starfield was the number one selling title in the US for September 2023, followed by Mortal Kombat 1 and EA Sports FC 24 as reported by Circana (formerly NDP) analyst Mat Piscatella.
Madden NFL 24 was knocked down from the top spot compared to last month in the US by the new three, while Payday 3, another new release in the month, was able to squeeze into the top five just below Madden.
It also beat out NBA 2K24, though that could very well be higher on the leader-board if its digital sales were included. As the other big new release for the month, The Crew Motorfest made it into the top 10 at the number 7 spot.
