Warner Bros. continues to layoff workers in its games business, and this time it is 99 developers from WB Montreal being let go.
First reported by Radio-Canada, the layoff happened the same day that Rocksteady confirmed it would be ending support for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
According to the report the layoff seems to mostly impact QA developers who were under a subcontract with Keywords QA. Those impacted were given the choice to meet with a counselor to help them look for another job, or be placed on a register list where they could be recalled for work, but that call wouldn’t be coming until 2026.
“I feel stressed and depressed. I feel like the company just ruined 99 lives,” a source told Radio-Canada.
As always its unfortunate to see more developers laid off, but it’s always particularly upsetting to see it this late in the year, when everyone is beginning to focus on getting ready for the new year, and spending time with their families for the holidays.
Hopefully those impacted will be able to land on their feet.
