Mass Effect Andromeda graphics looking better than E3 trailer, new info coming this winter

Mass Effect Andromeda was looking quite impressive at E3 2015 when Electronic Arts showcased the debut trailer for the upcoming action-RPG, but according to BioWare’s Chris Wynn, the game is already looking more impressive than what we saw back in June.

Wynn took to Twitter to reveal that the footage shown during the Los Angeles-based games event was in-engine, although in terms of content it was just a teaser of what is possible in Andromeda.

So, when are we going to actually hear some more concrete info on Mass Effect Andromeda? According to BioWare’s Yanick Roy, the studio going to divulge more info on the upcoming science-fiction adventure title "this winter." Considering Andromeda isn’t actually out until holiday 2016, this probably shouldn’t come as a surprise. The game is in development for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One, making it the first Mass Effect title that won’t be released for last-generation consoles.

BioWare previously teased that Mass Effect Andromeda will be the ‘best and largest‘ title in the epic space series to date, although remains undecided on a possible return for Commander Shepard. Andromeda will not be related to the original Mass Effect Trilogy in any shape or form however, as it takes place in an area of the galaxy far removed from Shepard’s exploits.

Speaking of the original trilogy, there have been rumors of a remastered Mass Effect Trilogy for PS4 and Xbox One for some time now, although BioWare has not officially announced anything as of yet. Publisher EA has admitted that despite demand for such a release, a HD remaster may not ever happen. That hasn’t stopped a rumored HD Trilogy from being listed online, and BioWare has openly requested fan feedback on a potential remastering of the original games.

Mass Effect was released in 2007 as an Xbox 360 console exclusive, though starting with the sequel the series made the transition to PS3 in 2011. Mass Effect 3 hit stores in 2012, with the original also turning up on Sony’s last-gen console as part of the Mass Effect Trilogy following the third instalment’s release.
